About Us

The Friends is a project of the Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation, a non-profit 501c3 organization. All contributions to the Friends are deductible to the extent provided by law. We are entirely voluntary, unpaid, and work with staff of the Mass. Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Our Mission

To enhance and preserve the natural resources of the Forest’s unique 5500 acre sandplain ecosystem, while accommodating compatible recreational uses, in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Island conservation agencies.
